Lyon Park Historical Display

A group of over twelve smart, passionate and dedicated individuals met over the past year to develop ideas for the community to explore Lyon Park’s history. The “LP History Committee” came up with many fascinating ideas, some of which we still hope to push to realization.

For the weekend celebration of the 100th anniversary of Lyon Park, we ended up focusing on a panel display of some of the more interesting historical episodes from the last 100 years of Lyon Park. We are sharing with you the panels that were created in banner format to hang in the windows of the Community Center’s sun room.

Soon we hope to have a more robust history section on our web site that will include the longer narratives from our writers, more photographs, artifacts to explore, and even an oral history section – not only to listen to accounts, but also to record some memories of your own! Some of the committee’s other ideas included historic walking tours, bike tours, architectural tours and a permanent display in the Community Center that would include artifacts, historical narratives and photographs.
